Our History

1916

The Moose Jaw Seventh-day Adventist Church had its humble beginnings. Members met in rented churches and halls, building a community of faith.

1945

The congregation purchased their first building from the Christian Science Church for $5,000. It was located at the rear of the current property, where the alley is now.

1948

On June 12th, the first church building was dedicated, marking a significant milestone in our congregation’s history.

1949

A Christian Educational program was developed and a school opened in September, extending our mission to include the spiritual and educational growth of children.

1962

Under the leadership of Pastor E. L. Koronko, the church began planning and fundraising for a new church home to accommodate our growing congregation.

1967

On May 4th, the first service was held in our new church building—a momentous day for the congregation.

1969

The old church building was demolished in April, making way for continued growth and development of our church campus.

1970

On April 25th, our church was consecrated, setting it apart for God’s service and our community’s worship.

1972

On September 16th, our church was dedicated and fully paid for. The building cost $85,000 including furnishings and fixtures—today it would cost at least $850,000 to build.

1990

A new school room and gymnasium were added, expanding our facilities to better serve our educational ministry and community activities.

2007

On Sabbath, November 24th, we celebrated 40 years since breaking ground on our present church. The celebration included a historical report by Ernie Gadd, a fellowship dinner, and an evening slideshow of church and family history presented by Pastor Dennis Braun.

Our church features a seating capacity of 230 with a 20-seat choir loft. The main building measures 40 feet wide by 70 feet long, with a narthex addition of 40 by 24 feet, providing ample access to the nave, mother’s room, Pastor’s study, and lower level. The lower level houses three children’s Sabbath School classes, Community Services, an assembly hall with seating for 125, the kitchen, and furnace room. Behind and above the chancel is the baptistry.
